What this is, and what it is not

It is a cleaning tool. It gets soap to the parts of your back you cannot reach and rinses clean afterwards. It is not a chemical exfoliant and it will not do what an acid or a proper body scrub does.

  • 100% Food-Grade, BPA-Free Silicone
  • One moulded piece — no seams, no glued bristles
  • Secure checkout
  • 26.8 in of reach the middle of your back, without twisting
  • Two textures fine bristles one side, beads the other
  • Dries in minutes non-porous, so nothing soaks in

Mucpad's own framing

Four reasons your back never gets clean

These four are the brand's own — the opening panel of their listing names all of them. What follows underneath is what the product actually does about each one.

Excess keratin

Skin builds up where nothing reaches it. A back is the one place a flannel and two hands cannot get to.

Coarse material

Wooden brushes and stiff bristles scratch. People give up on them within a fortnight and go back to a hand.

Shedding cheap cloth

A loofah sheds, then holds water, then holds everything else. Most people are on their third one this year.

Hard to touch

A rigid handle you cannot bend does not follow the shape of a shoulder, so it only ever touches one spot at a time.

Mucpad's own panel: excess keratin, coarse material, shedding cheap cloth, hard to touch

The reply

One moulded strap, two textures, no seams

You hold both ends and pull. The strap follows the curve of your back instead of poking at it, the bristle face carries the soap and the bead face does the rubbing, and because it is a single piece of non-porous silicone there is nothing to shed and nothing to soak.

Soft texture with nice elasticity. The brand's own words for it, and the reason it bends around a shoulder.

Non-porous hygienic silicone — a more sanitary alternative to traditional loofahs and bath sponges. Also theirs — and it is the difference between rinsing something and merely wetting it.

A hand bending the strap, showing fine bristles on one face and massage beads on the other

Double Sided

Two faces, and they do different jobs

The strap is the same piece of silicone all the way through. What changes is what is moulded onto each side. Turn it over.

The two faces of the scrubber, fine bristles and massage beads

Dense fine bristles

Thousands of fine points, close together. They hold the lather and carry it into skin rather than pushing foam around on top of it. This is the face you use for most of a shower.

  • Holds the soapso a small squeeze goes a long way
  • Soft on the passnothing here scratches
  • Works the lather updense bristles create abundant lather quickly

The question that stops the order

Will it reach the middle of my back?

The strap is 68.2 cm / 26.8 in end to end on Mucpad's own diagram. Drag your height and this works out the span you get once both hands are on it.

The scrubber laid flat with 68.2 cm and 11 cm marked

The thing it is actually replacing

Nobody buys their first back scrubber. They buy their fourth loofah and then stop. Here is the comparison with the middle column filled in honestly.

The scrubber covered in lather, then rinsed completely clean under a running tap

The rinse

Five seconds under the tap and there is nothing left in it

Mucpad call it resists buildup and rinses clean instantly, and the reason is that there is nowhere for anything to go. Silicone has no cells and no fibres. Soap, skin and water all sit on the surface, so they all leave together.

Quick-drying. Hang it on the hook and it is dry before you have finished getting dressed.

Hygienic, durable, and mold-resistant. The brand's own claim for the material.

One each is realistic. They cost little enough and hang flat enough that a shared bathroom can have three on one hook.

Mucpad's own instructions

Three steps, and the third one is the shower

A line of gel down the middle

Straight onto the bristle face. It does not need much — the bristles hold it rather than letting it run off, which is most of why people say the bottle lasts longer.

Two rubs and it is foaming

Dense bristles create abundant lather quickly. Fold it against itself for a second or work it between your palms; either way you have a full lather before it reaches your back.

Both loops, then pull

One hand over the shoulder, one hand at the opposite hip, and pull. The strap does the work as it slides; you are not scrubbing so much as letting it pass.

The material

One piece of food-grade silicone

Four statements, all of them Mucpad's own. What can be checked against the listing is on the spec sheet further down.

Premium food-grade silicone

The listing gives the material as 100% Food-Grade, BPA-Free Silicone. That is the whole product — handle, strap and bristles are one moulded piece.

BPA-free

Stated on the listing and called out on the brand's own diagram.

Quick-drying

Also from the diagram. Nothing porous, so nothing holds water.

No seams, no glue

There is no joint to fail, because there is no joint. Nothing is bonded to anything.

Both faces, and the two moulded loops

Where it goes

Bought for the back, used everywhere

Mucpad's own panel shows three. The strap is the same length for all of them — what changes is how much of it you hold.

The reason you are here

Over one shoulder, under the opposite arm, and pull. The diagonal is what gets between the shoulder blades — the one patch of a person that nothing else reaches.

Mucpad's own panel: the scrubber used on the back, the legs and the feet

Care, from the listing

Three things, and two of them take seconds

01

Rinse it

Under the tap, a few seconds, while you are still in the shower. That is the whole cleaning routine most days.

02

Hang it to air dry

On the loop. It is dry in minutes because there is nothing for water to sit in.

03

Wash it properly now and then

Mucpad's own line: regular cleaning maintains softness, flexibility and long-lasting use. Hot water and a little washing-up liquid is enough.

Frozen shoulder — this is the first thing that has reached my own back

I have not been able to properly wash between my shoulder blades in about two years. The handles mean you pull it rather than reach with it, so the shoulder does not have to rotate at all. That is the entire review. I did not expect a bath accessory to be the thing that fixed it.

My loofah went black in the corner of the shower. This does not do that

That was the actual reason I bought it. Rinse it under the tap for five seconds, hang it on the hook, and it is dry the next time you look at it. Nothing to go soft, nothing to smell. Two months in and it looks exactly like it did on day one.

Softer than I expected, which turned out to be the point

I was braced for something scratchy — the photos make the bristles look firmer than they are. In practice the bristle side is gentle and the bobbly side does the work. Four stars only because I would have liked to know that before ordering; I nearly bought something harsher.

Uses noticeably less shower gel than the sponge did

A small squeeze along the middle and a couple of rubs gives more foam than half a handful did on the old sponge. The bottle is lasting nearly twice as long, which I did not think would be a thing I noticed.

I am 5'2" and it is still not too long

I was worried it would be unmanageable at that length. It is not — you just hold it shorter. My partner is a foot taller and uses the full span. Same brush, no arguing about it.

Good brush, but the grips are slippery with conditioner on your hands

The scrubbing part I have no complaint about at all. But if you wash your hair first and get conditioner on your palms, the loops can slide. I have dropped it twice. Not a disaster, and I still use it every day, but it is worth knowing.

Mucpad replied

Fair, and worth saying out loud: silicone against a slippery palm is silicone against a slippery palm. Rinsing your hands before you pick it up solves it, and holding the strap itself rather than the loops gives you a lot more grip. Sorry it took two drops to find that out.

Bought it for my back, use it most on my feet

Standing on one end and pulling the other is the easiest way I have found to actually scrub the soles of my feet without balancing on one leg. Slightly ridiculous, works perfectly.

Three people, one bathroom, and I can actually clean it properly

The thing I never liked about shared sponges is that you cannot really wash them. This one goes under hot water, gets a wipe, and it is done. We have one each now — they hang side by side and dry between showers.

The bobbly side is better than the bristle side, for me

The fine bristles are pleasant but the massage side is the one that actually shifts anything on my upper back. I would happily have both faces bobbled. As it is I just use the one side and turn it over occasionally.

One piece of rubber, nothing to break

No seams, no glued bristles, no plastic handle to snap. I have had brushes fall apart at the joint within a month and this has no joint. It has been stretched, twisted and stood on and it has not marked.

Does not exfoliate the way a proper scrub does — my mistake

I read "exfoliating" and expected something closer to a body scrub or a dry brush. It is a cleaning tool, not an exfoliant. It washes very well and it is easy to use, but if you came looking for a keratin fix like I did, this is not it.

Mucpad replied

You are right and we would rather you had known first. This lifts what soap lifts and gets to the parts of your back you cannot reach — it is not a chemical exfoliant and it will not do what an acid or a proper scrub does. We have put that in plain terms further up the page for the next person.

Replaced a wooden brush I kept re-buying

The long-handled wooden one warped and the bristles splayed within a season, twice. Six months with this one and there is nothing to report, which is the point. It rolls up in a suitcase too.

Four things, and two of them are yours to fill in

Returns window

A returns window is a promise only the shop can make, so this template will not print an invented one. Set yours and delete this badge.

Free delivery over $35

A threshold, not a promise — set it to whatever your carrier actually costs you.

Every claim is credited

Every statement about the material on this page is attributed to whoever made it. The brand's claims are labelled as the brand's, the listing's fields are quoted verbatim, and where the listing contradicts itself the page says so.

No rating we cannot stand behind

No star average appears anywhere on this page. Nothing has been invented to fill the gap, and nothing thin has been dressed up as a recommendation. When there are enough real reviews to mean something, the figure goes back.

Before you order

The nine things people ask

Will it really reach the middle of my back?

The strap is 68.2 cm / 26.8 in end to end. You hold both loops and pull it diagonally — over one shoulder and under the opposite arm — so you are not reaching with your shoulder at all, which is the part that stops most people. There is a tool higher up this page that works the span out against your height.

Does it exfoliate?

Not in the sense that a scrub or an acid does, and the page will not pretend otherwise. The listing lists "Exfoliating" among the product benefits, and what that means in practice is that it lifts what soap lifts, on skin a flannel never reaches. If you are looking for something that resurfaces skin, this is not that product.

Is it scratchy?

No — several reviewers say it is softer than they expected. Mucpad describe it as "soft texture with nice elasticity". If you want more bite, use the bead face and press harder; the bristle face is the gentler of the two.

Will it go mouldy like a loofah?

The material is 100% food-grade, bpa-free silicone, which is non-porous — there are no cells or fibres for water to sit in. Rinse it and hang it on the loop and it dries in minutes. Mucpad call it "hygienic, durable, and mold-resistant".

How do I clean it properly?

The listing's own instructions: rinse it, hang it to air dry, and clean it regularly — "rinse it, hang it to air dry. regular cleaning maintains softness, flexibility and long-lasting use." Hot water and a little washing-up liquid every week or two is enough.

Is it safe for sensitive skin?

The listing gives the skin type as "All" and the material as 100% food-grade, bpa-free silicone. That is what the listing says, not a dermatological assessment — and the listing's own safety line applies: for external use only. if irritation occurs, discontinue use. keep out of reach of children. If your skin reacts to anything easily, try it on an arm before you take it to your back.

Can I use it on my face?

No. It is built for a back, a leg and a foot, and the pressure you get from pulling a strap with both hands is nothing like what a face wants. Use something made for a face.

How long does it last?

There is no published figure and this page will not invent one. What can be said is structural: it is one moulded piece with no seam, no glued bristles and no wooden handle to warp, so the usual failure points are not there. Replace it when it stops feeling clean to you.

Why do the dimensions on the listing disagree?

Because they do. The brand's diagram says 68.2 cm / 26.8 in long and 11 cm / 4.3 in wide, the seller's own product title says 26.77in, and the listing's "Item Dimensions" field says 36 x 5 x 0.8 inches. The first two agree; the third does not. This page uses the first two and reproduces the third on the spec sheet rather than quietly deleting it.
