DrDent's own answer is one line: Purple cancels yellow. Color theory, not chemistry. It is the same trick purple shampoo plays on brassy blonde. Drag the slider and watch it happen.

Opposite sides of the wheel
Yellow and purple sit across from each other. Lay one over the other and the eye stops reading either — it reads neutral. That is all a colour corrector is, and it is why the effect is instant rather than gradual.

The difference on day one is the purple, and it is not subtle
Peeled the strips off, rinsed, looked in the mirror and actually said something out loud. It is a colour-correcting effect and it does fade over the day — the panel says so and it is true — but as a thing to do before going out it is very good.

I drink four cups a day and it shows. I did the full run, every day, and the change by the end was not the instant purple thing — it was the underlying colour. That is the part I cared about and the part that stayed.

The box says "stays put and peels off easily" and for once that is accurate. Thirty minutes and it has not slid down my gum line once. Four rather than five because the bottom strip needs a bit of pressing at the corners.

Every peroxide kit I have tried has left me wincing at cold water for two days. I got through the whole run of these with nothing. I am not saying that is everyone — but for me the peroxide-free thing was the entire point and it delivered.

Works over my veneers, which nothing else claimed to
I have four upper veneers and the shade difference against my own teeth had been bothering me. The purple evens it out because it sits on top of everything. It does wash off, so it is a before-going-out thing rather than a fix, but it is the only product that has done anything at all here.

Bought it for a wedding, started six weeks out, no regrets
Started early on purpose so I was not doing anything drastic the week before. By the photos there was a clear difference and no sensitivity to deal with on the day. The mint is mild, which I appreciated.

Good product, but the purple oversells what the box does long-term
The instant effect is real and it is lovely and it is gone by bedtime. The actual lasting change over three weeks was there but modest. I do not think anything was hidden from me exactly — it is written on the panel — but the photography leans hard on the instant half.

Did very little for me — and I think I know why
Mine is not surface staining, it is the colour my teeth have always been. I had a look afterwards and that is intrinsic, which no strip is going to touch. Three stars because the product did what it says on its own terms; I bought the wrong thing.

Greg — you have diagnosed it better than our page did. There is now a "what it will not do" column above the reviews that names intrinsic discolouration specifically, and a suitability check that will tell people to see a dentist instead of selling to them. Sorry you paid to find that out.

First two treatments they slid about and I nearly gave up. Dried my teeth with a tissue first and they have gripped perfectly every time since. That is not in the three-step instructions and it probably should be.

I thought I was buying whitening and I bought a filter
Nobody told me the purple washes off. I did one treatment, was thrilled, went to bed, woke up and my teeth were exactly the same colour as before. Reading it back the words are all there on the packaging but I would never have guessed from the pictures what "temporary colour-correction system" was going to mean.

Bea — this is the review we most needed and we would rather have it in public. You are right: the colour correction is optical and it goes. The PAP underneath is the part that accumulates over the twenty-one treatments, and one treatment was never going to show it. That is now said in the second sentence on this page rather than in the small print. Get in touch and we will make the first box right.

How long until I see something?
Two different answers, and that is the whole product. The purple colour correction is there the moment you peel the strip off — DrDent call it a temporary color-correction system on the side of the box, and it fades over the day. The PAP works on the stain underneath across the 21 treatments. If you do one treatment and judge it the next morning, you are judging the half that was never meant to stay.
Is it really peroxide-free?
That is the listing's own "Material type free" field: Peroxide Free. DrDent's panel puts it as “Hydrogen peroxide-free, carbamide peroxide-free. Built around PAP instead.” PAP is a different active, chosen instead of peroxide rather than alongside it.
Will it make my teeth sensitive?
Peroxide-free is the reason a lot of people look for a product like this, and PAP is chosen partly for that. It is not a promise of no reaction — nothing sold in a box can be. Stop using them if anything hurts, and talk to a dentist rather than pushing through.
Does it work on veneers, crowns and bonding?
DrDent say “Works on everything: natural teeth, veneers, crowns, and dental work.” It follows from what a colour corrector is: an optical correction sits on the surface and does not care what is underneath. It also washes off the same way. Nothing in a box changes the shade a restoration was made — that is a dentist's job.
How many strips is a treatment, and how long does a box last?
2 — an upper and a lower. 42 strips is 21 treatments, which is exactly the “21 treatments. Just 30 minutes each.” DrDent print. There is a calculator higher up this page that turns that into a date.
How long do I leave them on?
30 minutes, once. The box prints it on the front: 30 minute application. Longer is not better and it is not what the instructions say.
They keep sliding off. What am I doing wrong?
Almost always wet teeth. Dry them with a tissue before the strip goes on and it grips. The box claims “Stays put and peels off easily.” and in practice that is true once the surface is dry.
What is actually in it?
Two answers again, and both are on this page. The listing's "Active ingredients" field says Glycerin — a humectant, which is what holds the gel on the strip. DrDent's images say the whitening active is PAP. There is a section above that puts them side by side rather than picking one.
Who should not use these?
The listing gives the age range as Adult — not for children. If you have pain, bleeding gums, untreated decay or anything a dentist has asked you to deal with, deal with that first. Whitening over a problem hides it.
Is it vegan?
The listing's "Material features" field says Vegan, and the side of the box prints CRUELTY FREE. Both are the seller's own declarations.
